Speaker Information

Conference sessions are meant to provide significant contributions to professional development in the human service field, attendees will be dissatisfied if they sense a presenter is providing promotional material for his or her own benefit.

The lead/submitting presenter is designated as the main contact for all conference information and is required to notify all co-presenters regarding the outcome of the session selection process and coordinate the session through the conference. It is helpful to MSSA to have contact information for co-presenters as well, so be sure to provide emails for all speakers.

Again this year we will be using the Minneapolis Convention Center auditorium space to help alleviate crowding in sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. We are excited for this opportunity to continue to improve the conference experience for participants.

Presentation Preparation

As you prepare your presentation please make sure you have appropriate permission, and use proper citation for proprietary information. You should also maintain appropriate confidentiality for any individuals or organizations that are discussed in your presentation or learning activities. MSSA strongly encourages all presenters to also keep in mind presentation accessibility best practices as you prepare you presentation, see the Reference Article section at the end of this page for more information.

Audio Visual Equipment/Handouts

Each presentation room will be equipped with a speaker table, 2 microphones, an LCD projector, and screen. All speakers must use a microphone. Speakers must provide their own laptops for their presentation with all presentations loaded. MSSA does not provide laptops, additional A/V equipment or internet. Handouts will not be printed. Presentations, handouts, and post-tests will be posted for attendees to access prior to the conference if materials are received by Monday, March 2, 2020 otherwise materials are due by March 23, 2020 and will be posted after the conference. We ask that you provide your materials no later than March 23, 2020 for attendees to access while content is fresh in their minds.

Honorarium / Travel Reimbursement Policies

MSSA values the time and expertise of its speakers. MSSA offers the lead presenter a complimentary registration to the conference ($195 Value) and a membership ($60 value) in lieu of payment of fees and/or expenses. Co-presenters are not eligible to receive these benefits.

To keep our conference fees affordable for everyone, we ask that requests for compensation be kept to a minimum. If the presenter requires an honorarium and/or travel reimbursement to present a proposed session, please complete the appropriate information in the proposal system. When proposed presentations are comparable in topic and educational quality those not requiring an honorarium and/or travel may be given preference based on MSSA’s budget limitations.

  • General Session / Keynote Speaker
  • All of the education sessions for the full conference
