Speaker Information

Conference sessions are meant to provide significant contributions to professional development in the human service field, attendees will be dissatisfied if they sense a presenter is providing promotional material for his or her own benefit.

The lead/submitting presenter is designated as the main contact for all conference information and is required to notify all co-presenters regarding the outcome of the session selection process and coordinate the session through the conference.

Presentation Preparation

As you prepare your presentation please make sure you have appropriate permission including for any music you play, and use proper citation for proprietary information. You should also maintain appropriate confidentiality for any individuals or organizations that are discussed in your presentation or learning activities. MSSA strongly encourages all presenters to also keep in mind presentation accessibility best practices as you prepare you presentation, see the Reference Article section at the end of this page for more information.

MSSA will provide a PowerPoint title slide that we are asking all presenters to use. It is optional to use the MSSA conference template for the remaining slides in the presentation. MSSA will also provide an optional Zoom background image.

Final session recordings are due by March 1, 2021. More information about recording your own presentation or getting assistance from MSSA Staff or our virtual conference platform AV is coming soon.

Audio Visual Equipment / Handouts

For virtual presentations, presenters will need access to a webcam, computer microphone, and internet. MSSA will assist if possible, if a presenter lacks access.

Presentation PDFs and handouts will be posted on the virtual conference session page. It is most helpful for participants if presentation PDFs and handouts are posted for attendees to access prior to sessions. Please provide materials for posting by Friday, March 5, 2021. Only registered conference attendees will have access to the session materials.

Honorarium Policies

MSSA values the time and expertise of its speakers. MSSA offers the lead presenter a complimentary registration to the conference and a membership in lieu of payment. Co-presenters are not eligible to receive these benefits.

To keep our conference fees affordable for everyone, we ask that requests for compensation be kept to a minimum. If the presenter requires an honorarium to present a proposed session, please complete the appropriate information in the proposal system. When proposed presentations are comparable in topic and educational quality those not requiring an honorarium may be given preference based on MSSA’s budget limitations.

Those sessions that have been approved for an honorarium are required to submit an invoice to MSSA no later than 30 days post-conference. All invoices will be paid after the conference.
