MSSA Announces 126th Annual Training Conference & Expo – Keynote Kevin Hines

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA, DECEMBER 12, 2018 ─ The Minnesota Social Service Association (MSSA) announces the conference keynote for the MSSA 2019 Annual Conference March 20-22, 2019 in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This year’s conference theme, Challenging Perceptions – Inspiring Transformation, focuses on recognizing how our assumptions or perceptions about ourselves, and the people and systems around us, impact our behaviors. When these perceptions are identified, we can challenge ourselves to look at the world in a new way. This is the first step to not only transforming our lives, but the lives of the people we work with every day. Conference participants will learn about current and emerging best clinical experiences, hear form presenters on their lived experiences, and be presented with diverse cultural and regional perspectives.

Keynote speaker, Kevin Hines, will set the stage by sharing his story of hope, healing, and recovery. He is a brain/mental health advocate, award-winning global speaker, bestselling author and documentary filmmaker. In the year 2000, Kevin attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Many factors contributed to his miraculous survival including a sea lion which kept him afloat until the Coast Guard arrived. He is the only Golden Gate Bridge jump survivor who is actively spreading a message of hope and sharing his art of living mentally healthy.

The MSSA Conference agenda offers 130 education sessions with up to 20 hours of continuing education covering a broad range of topics for health and human service professionals. Conference tracks include:
  • Adult Services
  • Behavioral Health
  • Child Well-Being
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Ethics
  • Health & Wellness
  • Macro
  • Supervision/Leadership
  • Hot Topics
