A Transgender Woman, Veteran, Professional: Her Fight to Be Her Authentic Self
As a transgender veteran, Bradley Aune has had to deal with many challenges related to who she is, and many times has experienced discrimination for who she is. While serving as a Marine infantryman and a First Sergeant in the Army, she had to hide her true self. After serving a tour in Iraq, she was denied promotion to Sergeant Major after being outed as a crossdresser. In 2019, a Supreme Court ruling gave her rights related to employment. She was then allowed to work as her authentic self.
