8:45 - 9:00 a.m.   Welcome

9:00 - 11:15 a.m. The Overdose Prevention Program
Lexi Reed Holtum
The Overdose Prevention Program grew out of the need for implementation of Steve’s Law (Minnesota Good Samaritan/Naloxone legislation) which passed unanimously through both houses of the Minnesota state legislature in 2014. Steve’s Law provides limited immunity to those who call 911 in good faith to save a life and allows first responders, law enforcement and trained lay people to administer naloxone, which can counteract the effects of an opioid overdose within minutes. The Steve Rummler HOPE Network will present on opioid addiction, naloxone use and community resources.

11:15 - 12:30 a.m.  Luncheon

12:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.           Awards Presentation and Region 7 Business Meeting
We will elect region board members, discuss legislative proposals for MSSA’s Public Policy and Advocacy Summit on November 8 in Minnetonka, and recognize members of our community with special awards.

1:15 - 3:30 p.m.  Sexual Assault and Trafficking in Central Minnesota
Rebecca Kotz and Peggy La Due
Rebecca and Peggy will present on the status of sexual assault and sex trafficking in central Minnesota. They will also share community resources for survivors. Central MN Sexual Assault Center (CMSAC) is a 24-hour crisis intervention agency providing direct services to people affected by any form of sexual violence. CMSAC also works to prevent sexual assault in our communities and in society at large by re-defining power to promote equality between all people, non-violence, cooperation, and mutual interdependence.
